ANNUAL ASBESTOS NOTIFICATION
†† All asbestos and assumed asbestos are monitored on a regular basis and a periodic surveillance completed every six months, just as we have been doing since July 9, 1989. The Institute for Environmental Assessment has recently completed a three year re-inspection and appropriate action has been taken on their recommendations.
†† In addition, as required by AHERA, three year re-inspections are conducted. The last re-inspection was completed in November of 2015.† Please be assured that the Districtís ongoing efforts related to the management and control of asbestos-containing materials are geared toward providing a safe and healthy environment for students, employees, and other building occupants.
†† The presence of asbestos in a building does not mean that the health of building occupants is necessarily endangered.† As long as asbestos containing material remains in good condition and is not disturbed, exposure is unlikely.
†† The plan is available for review in the schoolís administrative office during normal business hours.
†† The Friend Public Schools has removed most of the asbestos from the school buildings as a part of our energy conservation projects. The remaining asbestos is in the form of floor covering such as the tile and linoleum in the high school and elementary schools and pipe insulations. There are several assumed locations for asbestos. For details about the location of these areas, please contact Mr. David Kraus, Superintendent at 402-947-2781.†
